This recall includes Amana-branded packaged terminal air conditioners and heat pumps (PTACs) bundled with “DigiAir” units. DigiAir units are factory-installed make-up air systems with configurable dehumidification. Recall units are beige in color and have a model number beginning with PMH or PMC. Amana is printed on the control cover of the unit and the model number is on a label located at the bottom of the control panel.

Consumers should contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, LP (DCT) for instructions on disabling the DigiAir compressor in recalled PTAC units and to arrange for free repair of the unit by a qualified technician. DCT contacts all known buyers directly.

Accidents / Injuries:

DCT has received 52 reports of accidents with the “DigiAir” compressor, including 10 that resulted in fires. No injuries have been reported.

Sold in:

Through direct sales and heating and cooling dealers nationwide from May 2015 through January 2023 for between $1,200 and $1,400.
